Description: Today’s feature is one of the most talented and hyped point guard prospects to enter the NBA in the last 10 years. I’ll never forget the hype surrounding him in his Las Vegas summer league debut, and the even more expectations he gathered for himself after dropping 36 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, and five steals in a Lakers win against the Sixers, leading to him averaging 16 points, nearly 8 rebounds and over 9 assist and becoming the Vegas summer league MVP. His father had set the bar for his son as high as you probably could, especially after saying Lonzo would be better than Steph Curry. Ridiculous in hindsight, but many at the time waited to pass judgement, knowing Lonzo had the talent, potential and hype to maybe back that up. His career hasn’t been terrible when he’s able to hit the floor, but safe to say being compared to Steph Curry can never be brought up again. More importantly, his current team the Chicago Bulls fear he may never be able to play basketball ever again. He hasn’t played in a game since January 2022 and has had three knee surgeries since then, without significant improvement. It leaves Chicago in waiting for an important piece to their rebuild and potential contention in the eastern conference to be one of the better teams. What made Lonzo even more special, was he did it on both ends of the floor and has improved his shooting, specifically from 3 every season he’s played, good for 42% in 2021-22, top 5 in the league. But in his 5 seasons in the league, Lonzo has never played a full 82 game season, dealing with injuries he has since his high school days and every year in the league.
